David B. Holdredge

d. March 6, 2021

David Brian Holdredge (Dave), 46, Tunkhannock, PA, passed away unexpectedly on March 5, 2021 in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Dave was born in Kingston, PA to parents Donald Richard Holdredge and Sharen Lee Holdredge on January 20, 1975. He is a graduate of the Dallas Area High School. Dave went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree of Science in Education from College Misericordia, and eventually earned a Master’s degree in education from Wilkes University. He worked as a teacher in the Wyalusing Area High School for more than 20 years. Dave left an endless impact and impression on students, colleagues and athletes over his many years at Wyalusing. The magnitude of his influence as a teacher is evident through the many letters and testimonials from his students. Expanding well beyond the walls of the classroom, Dave provided opportunities for students to visit abroad. He encouraged those around him to enjoy every moment life had to offer. Dave was much more than an educator. He was a good person. Dave was an amazing person! Dave was an avid reader, often accompanied by his shadows, dogs Buffy and Willow nearby. He enjoyed listening to music, and had a passion for writing screenplays, filmmaking, watching horror movies, and attending horror conventions. Theaters may have big screens, but Dave’s collection of movies and memorabilia is like no other. In the words from Dave’s all-time favorite movie Jaws, “We’re gonna need a bigger boat!” Dave’s greatest accomplishment and legacy will live on through his wife and daughters. His family was the most important love of his life. He cherished each and every family vacation at Dewey Beach. Dave also shared his sports enthusiasm with his daughters, his younger brother Donny and nephew Joshua, attending various stadiums. “Go Red Sox!” and “And Fly, Eagles, Fly!” In addition to his parents, Dave is survived by his wife Heather Dougherty Holdredge, and daughters Emma and Madison. Brothers Daniel and wife Cheri, Virginia, and Donald Jr. and wife Lori, Shavertown. Favorite mother-in-law Judith Dougherty. Nieces and nephews, Timothy and Lauren, Gabriella and Amanda, Joshua, and Sloane and Kaeleen. Dave is proceeded in death by his grandparents Richard and Naomi Holdredge, and Robert and Mildred Smith, and father-in-law Daniel J. Dougherty.
