Betty I. Johnson

Betty Irene Johnson, 85, of Tunkhannock, passed away November 22, 2018, at her home.

She was born in Wyalusing on Aug. 6, 1933, a daughter of the late Sherman and Lucy Hoover. She was a graduate of Wyalusing High School.

Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening until she was no longer able to do so. Her home cooked meals were some of the best around and something she was known for.

Surviving are her sons, Ronald Johnson and his wife Marilyn, of Shavertown, PA, Clifford Johnson, of Scranton, PA and daughter, Joan Brown and her husband Carl, of Webster, MA, grandson, Kenneth Johnson of Mehoopany, PA, granddaughter, Wendy Brown and her husband Sherwood, of Tunkhannock, PA, grandson, Jeremy Johnson of Milton, PA, grandson, Todd Johnson, of Mico, TX, granddaughter, Becky Robinson and her husband George, of Laceyville, PA, granddaughter, Melinda Alderson and her husband Jim, of Le Raysville, PA, grandson, Levi Foux and his wife Laura, of Sugar Run, PA, grandson, Clinton Johnson, and numerous great grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her dad, Sherman Hoover, and her mom, Lucy Hoover, brothers Grover, Eugene, Burleigh, sister Iona, son Earl, daughters Martha Johnson and Marion Johnson.

The family wants to express their appreciation and gratitude to Edna Donovan who cared for Betty in her final months. They also want to thank the hospice nurses and staff at Traditional Home Health Care.   

Family and friends are invited to attend Betty’s funeral service which will be held November 28, 2018 at 12P.M. from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc. 73 W. Tioga St. Tunkhannock, PA 18657. With Pastor Charles Bishop presiding. Interment will follow in North Flats Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11A.M until the time of service on Wednesday.
