Catherine Shoemaker

Catherine Shoemaker of Tunkhannock, PA., formerly of Mountain Lake Rd., Belvedere, N.J died Monday May 26, 2008 at Tyler Memorial Hospital, Tunkhannock, PA. She was born in Columbia, NJ, on December 30, 1916, daughter of the late Cornelius and Anna Kinney Swayze. She was a member of the Buttzville, United Methodist Church, Buttzville, PA. She worked as a school cook for the White Township Elementary school for several years and as a baker for Mackey’s Orchard in Belvedere, NJ, for many years. She was a 4-H leader and Camp Counselor. She is survived by her daughter Karen Brotzman of Tunkhannock, eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and 6 great great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by son Kenneth Shoemaker and by brothers Charles, Ernest, Robert, Clyde, and Lester Swayze, and sister Dorothy Mae Swayze. A memorial service will be held Saturday June 7th at 10:30 am at the Buttzville United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Buttzville Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
