Elizabeth Betty A. King

Elizabeth “Betty” A. King of Centermoreland passed away peacefully Sunday, April 3, 2011 at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends. Betty was born in Kingston on August 17th, 1943 daughter of the late Stephen and Marie Goble Yurish. She was a 1961 graduate of West Side Central Catholic and a member of the Church of the Nativity BVM in Tunkhannock. Betty was a devoted wife, mother, and caregiver to her late sister Marie Yurish. She enjoyed working in her garden, playing cards with her family and friends, weekend trips to the family cabin, fishing, knitting, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving is her husband of 45 years John J. King, son Stephen and wife JoDee King of Little Silver, NJ, daughter’s Kelly King of Olyphant, Pa. Shannon and husband Jason Schuckers of Sweet Valley, Pa., Sister’s Kathleen and husband Albert Finarelli of Hunlock Creek, Pa., Christine and husband Barry Pizzano of Dallas Pa. : grandchildren Stephen Fitzgerald, Pieter Quackenbush, Madison and Jack King, Landon and Mason Schuckers. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Hospice of the Sacred Heart for making her last days comfortable. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 am from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc., 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock with mass of Christian Burial at the Church of the Nativity BVM in Tunkhannock at 10 am. Interment will be in Saint Nicholas Cemetery in Shavertown. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 to 9. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Drive, Wilkes-Barre, Pa. 18702.
